Information Regarding the?Higher Balance?Case out of?Judge Ancer Haggerty's Courts, BEFORE the?Obsidian Vs. Cox. And before?Judge Marco Hernandez?was a Federal Judge.
See?Judge Ancer Haggerty?had a case like mine previously and it would not look good to set up Blogger Crystal Cox and protect the Portland Oregon Attorney Fraternity. So?Judge Marco Hernandez?was appointed, as was?Judge Michael Simon?at the same time and BOTH were friends with?Senator Gordon Smith? And?Senator Ron Wyden, more on those affiliations and conflicts of interest.
Judge Michael Simon?was a?Perkins Coie Attorney?for the Creditors in the Summit Bankruptcy BEFORE?Judge Michael Simon was appointed Judge. ?All this led to the Denial of Due Process of Blogger Crystal Cox Exposing them ALL.

There?s no doubt about it: North Carolina seems to have more than its fair share of writers. Ed Southern, executive director of the North Carolina Writers? Network, cites writer Lee Smith: ?You can?t spit in North Carolina without hitting a writer.?And Wake County has the most concentrated volume of writers in the state, Southern said. Southern, his staff and volunteers will host the NCWN Fall Conference in Cary the weekend of Nov. 2-4 at Embassy Suites. Writer Edith Pearlman, recipient of the 2011 PEN/Malamud Award for excellence in the art of short fiction, will give the keynote address. Peter Holsapple of Raleigh-based band The dB?s will provide entertainment on Saturday evening. The Fall Conference is just one of the projects that consumes Southern?s time; he writes and also works with other writers. He has worked for a major bookselling chain and as sales director for a publishing house. Southern has also published four books: ?The Jamestown Adventure?, ?Parlous Angels?, ?Sports in the Carolinas? and ?Voices of the American Revolution in the Carolinas.? Q: Why do you think so many writers decide to live and work in North Carolina? The writing community in North Carolina is very diverse; there are all sorts of voices being heard. I?m surprised by how many quality agents and editors there are who live in North Carolina and also how many come down from New York to visit. But the biggest thing about North Carolina writers is that we are a community. Writers here are supportive and generous, and we welcome new writers into our community. Q: What do writers get out of belonging to an organization like NCWN?Writers gain a sense of community, the sense that you are not alone. Writing can be a very isolating pursuit; you are by yourself, living in your own head. Almost all writers go through the process of trying to get published and facing rejection. The best thing we can do is to give writers encouragement and inspiration. One of our goals is to help you help yourself. We have a variety of resources and lists of agents and editors looking for new work. We keep lists of writing groups that are looking for new members. We have a literary calendar and post job opportunities for writers. We help writers find ways to promote their own work. Q: Does NCWN have anything new in the works for writers? We are working on starting writing workshops for returning veterans. We are working with Methodist University in Fayetteville to help people who may not have thought of themselves as writers. We want to host introductory writing workshops because most of us in NCWN believe that writing is fun and a worthwhile activity.
ATLANTA (AP) ? Scattered across the carefully landscaped main campus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are the staff on the front lines fighting a rare outbreak of fungal meningitis: A scientist in a white lab coat peers through a microscope at fungi on a glass slide. In another room, another researcher uses what looks like a long, pointed eye dropper to suck up DNA samples that will be tested for the suspect fungus.
Not far away in another building is the emergency operations center, which is essentially the war room. There's a low hum of voices as employees work the phones, talking to health officials, doctors and patients who received potentially contaminated pain injections believed to be at the root of the outbreak. Workers sit at rows of computers, gathering data, advising doctors and reaching out to thousands of people who may have been exposed. Overall, dozens of people are working day and night to bring the outbreak under control. More than 200 people in 14 states have been sickened, including 15 who have died.
There is a sense of urgency ? people are dying, and lives could be saved if those who are sickened get treated in time. But it's not a race against a fast-spreading illness like avian flu or SARS ? or even the fictional virus the CDC fails to unravel in the popular TV series "The Walking Dead." Unlike those outbreaks, this strain of meningitis isn't contagious and doesn't spread between people. It is likely isolated to the contaminated steroid, produced by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass.
"This is a very unusual infection," said Dr. John Jernigan, a CDC medical epidemiologist who is leading the clinical investigation team for the outbreak response. "So, treatment recommendations, diagnostic recommendations are all going to be new, and we're learning as we go on this one."
Meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, is not uncommon. But it is usually caused by bacteria, and it is very unusual to see it in patients with normal immune systems, Jernigan said. This strain is caused by a fungus that is common in dirt and grasses ? people routinely come into contact with it without getting sick ? but it has never before been identified as the cause of meningitis.
By Friday morning, officials believed they had reached about 90 percent of those who were potentially affected, Jernigan said. They planned to continue trying to reach every person to see if they've had problems and to warn them to be on the lookout for symptoms, which can include severe headache, nausea, dizziness and fever. The CDC says many of the cases have been mild, but some people had strokes.
A meeting is held each morning to review overnight developments and plot a course of action for the day, and another at the end of the day summarizes the day's developments and looks ahead to the next day. Maps on big screens in the front of the emergency operations center track the states where the tainted medications were sent and the tally of cases reported in affected states.
A few steps away in the joint information center, another team works to keep the information about the outbreak on the CDC's website up to date and disseminate information via the media and other outlets.
In another building on the campus tucked away in the northeast corner of Atlanta, in a part of the CDC that specializes in fungal infections, about 15 scientists in the reference and research labs are logging 12 hours or more a day and working through weekends to test samples coming in from around the country.
Because the lab scientists had never worked with this particular fungus in cerebrospinal fluid before, they had to quickly develop new tests to detect it before they could start analyzing the hundreds of samples ? cerebrospinal fluid samples, cultures and bits of tissue ? sent in from around the country, research lab team leader Ana Litvintseva said.
Dressed in a white coat Friday, Shawn Lockhart, the fungal reference lab team leader, peered through a microscope as images of what looked like red pea pods appeared on a computer screen next to him. Many other closely related fungi look similar, but a tiny dot at the end of a pod told him he was looking at the fungus believed to be at the root of the outbreak.
Normally, the reference lab works on difficult samples sent in from state health departments, while the research lab works on research projects. But the scale of this outbreak means those projects are mostly being shelved at the moment.
"The scale is much, much bigger than we would normally work with," said research lab team leader Ana Litvintseva said. "We are working every weekend and people are here 12 to 13 hours at a time and we're testing samples nonstop."

SNF game against undefeated Houston isn?t a must win, but it certainly would be much-needed
ANALYSIS

It doesn?t get much worse for the Packers than last week?s 30-27 loss to the Colts, who are in the early stages of a rebuilding effort and are basically an expansion team.
The Packers led the game 21-3, and fell to 2-3 on the season.
Their season, which had them pegged as a Super Bowl favorite before the season, is at a crossroads. Sunday night?s game against the Texans isn?t a must win, but it certainly would be much-needed.
The good news is that this group, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, has been in this position before.
And they?ve triumphed each time against a familiar face.
In 2009, the Packers suffered a terrible 38-28 road loss to the then-winless Buccaneers to drop to 4-4.
The next week, the 6-2 Cowboys came to Lambeau Field and were dominated 17-7 by the Packers in a game they led 17-0.
Green Bay finished 11-5 and lost an overtime playoff game to the Cardinals.
In 2010, the Packers lost 23-20 in overtime to a Dolphins team that would finish 7-9.
Green Bay won its next four games, including a home win against Brett Favre and the Vikings 28-24, on the road 9-0 against a Jets team that entered the game 5-1, and a 45-7 home victory over the Cowboys.
The Packers finished 10-6, squeaked into the playoffs and won the Super Bowl.
Those Cowboys teams were coached by Wade Phillips.
He?ll be on the sideline Sunday night in Houston as the Texans? defensive coordinator.
Phillips? counterpart will, just like in the previous two meetings, be Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers, who was the head coach of the expansion Texans from 2002-05.
That?s just one of the many subplots in this nationally televised showdown. To emerge with a victory, the Packers and Texans (5-0) will need to hit on three keys to the game.
Packers Be gap sound vs. the run: The Texans, behind star running back Arian Foster, are sixth in the league with 143.0 yards per game on the ground. They do it with a perfect blend of a well-executed zone blocking scheme, where the line tries to stretch out the defense laterally while opening up running lanes, and Foster?s elite ability to anticipate the hole and burst through it. The Packers must contain the Texans? running game or else they?ll never get off the field. If nose tackle B.J. Raji (ankle) can?t play, it would be a huge blow for the Packers. Veteran Ryan Pickett would have to slide from end to the nose, and C.J. Wilson and rookie Jerel Worthy would be the ends. All three must hold their gaps against the offensive line, and allow the four linebackers ? Erik Walden/Nick Perry, A.J. Hawk, D.J. Smith and Clay Matthews ? to properly wall up against the run. The secondary must fill and have to make repeated clean tackles.
Be productive on the first two downs: Because of penalties and poor execution, the Packers have repeatedly got themselves into bad distances on third down. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been sacked six times on his 20 dropbacks on third down with 9-plus yards to go (30 percent). His completion percentage of 65.9 percent on third down is his lowest on any down. The Packers need to find a way to be successful on the first two downs ? running the ball, even without Cedric Benson (foot injury), would help ? so Rodgers is in a better position. That?s especially true against the Texans, who like to blitz and have an excellent pass rush. But when given the opportunity, the Packers need to test the Texans? secondary, which is soft at safety, and at nickel back with Brice McCain. This could be a breakout game for slot receiver Randal Cobb.
Stop Watt: Texans end J.J. Watt is on his way to being NFL Defensive Player of the Year with his 8.5 sacks, 12 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for a loss and eight passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. He?s big (6-6, 295 pounds), fast and relentless. On passing downs, Watt moves inside to left defensive tackle. That should match him up against the Packers? best offensive lineman, right guard Josh Sitton. With Antonio Smith being another very good interior rusher, the Packers are going to have to have a sound plan. It starts with Watt. The Packers must limit his impactful plays. Force the other Texans to generate pressure against Rogers, because right now Watt is a one-man wrecking crew.
Texans keys Account for Clay Matthews: There is no question that the outside linebacker is the biggest playmaker for the Packers. He?s explosive rushing the passer, and has great instincts to knife through against the run and stop it. With the right side of the Texans? line with guard Antoine Caldwell and tackle Derek Newton being much weaker than the left, expect the Packers to keep Matthews on the defensive left side for much of the game. Even if the Texans have to keep a tight end to double Matthews, Houston must do it. If Matthews is contained, the Packers are going to have a hard time getting off the field.
Control the clock: With their excellent rushing attack, and perhaps the league?s best play-action passing game, the Texans are tough to get off the field for even the NFL?s most disciplined defenses. If the Texans can control the game on the ground and through a short, effective passing attack, it?s going to put pressure on the Packers? offense to produce on each drive. The Texans should focus on grinding out this game, because it?s what they do best. The Packers want to be explosive and the game to be fast paced. If they can?t get either, the Packers are going to start pressing and that?s when mistakes can happen.
Make the Packers drive the field: Without Benson, receiver Greg Jennings (groin) and possibly tight end Jermichael Finley (shoulder), the Packers are lacking big-play players. Texans cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson should be able to hold their own on the outside. McCain, the nickel corner, could have a tough matchup against Cobb. In any event, the Texans should err on playing more conservatively. The Packers have been sloppy on offense so far with sacks, penalties and dropped passes. If the Texans give the Packers enough rope (driving the length of the field) on each possession, they might just do part of the work for the Texans by stalling themselves. That?s what Green Bay has done so far this season.

PFT's picks: 49ers figure to keep on rolling
PFT's picks: No amount of Rodney Dangerfield cliches from coach Tom Coughlin will overcome the fact that the 49ers are hungrier and, for now, better. There?s a chance it will get ugly.
auto insurance Jackson MO There are more drivers on the road every year. With so many vehicles on the road, crashes are going to happen. Automobile insurance can be the difference between a minor setback and a large hassle. But why do you need to own insurance and just how much should you buy? Your car insurance may be able to pay for the expenses from a car crash ranging from hospital bills to replacement costs. Car insurance is required by law in all states and provinces. Deciding to drive without owning insurance could cause you to repair or replace a stolen or damaged vehicle or pay the cost of any damage for which you might be responsible. Liability: Bodily injury and property damage that you have caused will be covered under this type of insurance. Damages from bodily injury include medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property or loss of use of property. If you are in legal trouble, it also pays your defense and court costs. Local laws usually mandate standard amounts of liability insurance, but higher amounts are available and extremely helpful. Personal Injury Protection: Personal injury protection pays for hospital bills and other medical treatment for you or your passengers, regardless of who was at fault in the collision. It is sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage. It may also pay for lost earnings, replacement of services and funeral expenses. Local government usually sets minimum amounts. Medical Payments: This type of coverage is available in states that are not considered no-fault and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. If this policy is bought, the insured person will receive payment for all types of medical or funeral expenses. Collision: This pays for damage to your vehicle caused by a collision. Comprehensive: Protect your vehicle from damages from other sources when you buy this type of coverage. This can include protection from theft, vandalism, and fire or flood damage. Uninsured Motorist: This pays for damages when someone with insurance is injured in an accident caused by another person who does not have insurance. Under-Insured Motorist: This pays for collision expenses when a driver with insurance is injured in an accident caused by another person who does not have enough liability insurance to pay for the total amount of the damages. Other types of coverage, such as car rental, are also available. Your auto insurance payments varies based on the company and will depend on multiple factors, such as: *Your selected coverage *Your vehicle?s make and model * Whether or not you have been in an accident * Your age, sex and marital status * The place where you live Don?t wait around to buy auto insurance; you shouldn?t drive a car without it. Evaluate your needs, research your options, and with the help of your insurance agency, make the decision that fits you best.

? ?spring cleaning?? what about fall cleaning? That seems to be my time to get things in shape, including a blog update .
It?s already October and workshops are coming up, conferences are happening, new classes, new clients and lots to keep me busy. ?It?s hard to find time to muse about sex sometimes. I have been musing about intimacy, and how this does or doesn?t come into play within our sex lives. ?Single or partnered, or multi-partnered, intimacy seems to be something we crave, avoid, get awkward about or we just don?t know what to do about it. ?What I do notice in my work is that most people want it, even when it makes them uncomfortable.
What kind of sex are you having? what kind of relationships? Are you fulfilled? Satisfied? ?That is a lot of questions? and yet, there are no easy answers. ?And I propose that there isn?t really an answer but an opportunity to experience in every moment. ?Notice what you are feeling right now. ?I know it may sound cheesy or silly, or self-indulgent, but really, check out what are you aware of about yourself, your sexuality, your relationships.
And muse a little longer, stay curious about what is going on?
Scientists have found the first evidence that the ability to learn vocalizations, a capacity so far believed to be restricted to a handful of bird and mammal species like humans and dolphins, is shared by another species: mice. The new research, published Oct. 10 in the open access journalPLOS ONE by Erich Jarvis and Gustavo Arriaga at Duke University and colleagues, shows for the first time that mice share certain behavioral and brain mechanisms involved in vocal learning with songbirds and humans and can learn new vocal patterns.
Most animals make sounds of some sort, but only a few have the capacity to modify the sequence and pitch of sounds to create songs and speech, collectively referred to as vocal learning. So far, only three groups of birds - parrots, hummingbirds and songbirds - and some mammalian species - humans, whales, dolphins, sea lions, bats and elephants - have shown the behaviors and brain circuits that are considered essential to the process of learned vocalization. Despite decades of research, scientists have yet to find evidence of these behavioral and neurological hallmarks in other species, including those closely related to vocal learners such as non-human primates.
Though the series of ultrasonic vocalizations referred to as mouse 'song' was previously known, this study provides the first evidence that mice can change at least one acoustic feature of these vocalizations based on their social exposure. When two male mice of different strains were housed together, the animals gradually learned to match the pitch of their songs to one another, suggesting a capacity for learning not previously known. The researchers state that this is a limited form of vocal learning, but do not know whether other more complex features, such as syntax and frequency modulation, could be learned.
The researchers found that mice can form some of the necessary connections between different brain regions and the vocal motor neurons to control the sounds they make, a feature so far found in song learning birds and humans. Though the connections are more limited in mice compared to humans or songbirds, Jarvis states, "This is an exciting find, as the presence of direct forebrain control over the vocal neurons may be one of the most critical aspects in the human evolution of speech."
According to the researchers, their discovery was made possible by using modern techniques not previously available. They also clarify that the connections in mice are much more primitive than in songbirds or humans, but they may reveal some of the intermediate steps in the process by which vocalization evolved in advanced vocal learners like songbirds and humans.

Confusion and fears surrounding breast cancer abound. While researchers have long since put some myths to rest -? such as ideas that using anti-perspirant, drinking caffeine, and wearing an underwire bra will all increase your risk -- others issues related to breast cancer risk aren't quite so black and white. This is especially true when it comes to family history. If your mother, grandmother, or aunt -? or all three -- had breast cancer, for instance, does that mean you?ll get it too?
Not necessarily. People with multiple cases of breast cancer in their history do have an increased risk, but it?s not as simple as that.? Many factors can affect the inherited genetic risk for cancer, including the number of cases of cancer in a family history, the kinds of cancers, and ages of diagnoses.
This is where genetic counseling can help. Genetic counselors are trained to examine a person?s family medical history, looking for particular patterns that may point to potential genetic health risks.
According to Jill Stopfer, a certified genetic counselor at Penn?s Abramson Cancer Center, their process starts by creating a three-generation family tree of medical information.? Clues based on the pattern of cancers in the family ?- as well as additional information gleaned from the initial visit -- help zero in on a suspected gene or genes?that may call for formal genetic testing for things such as mutated BRCA 1 and 2 genes, which are tied to a much higher risk of breast and ovarian cancer than the general population. Patients who carry these genes have up to an 85 percent risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetimes, and up to a 63 percent lifetime risk of ovarian cancer, but preventive surgeries to remove a patient?s breasts and ovaries have been shown to drastically cut this risk. Genetic counselors can help patients decide if these options are right for them, and if so, when is the most appropriate time to undergo them, and educate them about early screening recommendations, such as starting to get mammograms beginning at age 25, and in some cases, adding breast MRI imaging.
Using information gained in her assessment, Stopfer helps women understand their risks of getting breast cancer, discussing appropriate genetic testing options as well as special screening and prevention strategies. ?We want to help women make an informed, personal decision,? she said. ?Penn Medicine?s new Basser Research Center for BRCA, established this past summer through a $25 million gift from University of Pennsylvania alumni Mindy and Jon Gray, plays a huge role in helping this population, too. As the nation?s first center of its kind focusing on the treatment and prevention of cancers associated with the inherited BRCA gene mutations, the Basser Center unites researchers and clinicians who are working to find new ways to prevent these cancers, detect them early when they occur, and treat them in new, more effective ways. Last May, the New York Times detailed the work of the new center, illustrating how the studies being conducted by Susan Domchek, MD, the breast cancer physician and researcher who serves as the Basser Center?s executive director, and her team may help shed light on breast cancer biology in ways that can help all breast cancer patients.
Having a mutation or a strong family history of breast cancer doesn?t necessarily mean a person will develop cancer, but having this information is an important first step in finding ways to reduce risk. And everyone can lower the chances for developing cancer -- or increase the chance for an early diagnosis if they do develop cancer -- by following these steps:?
Get an annual mammogram, starting at age 40.?
Keep a healthy body weight, with a body mass index of 25 or lower, especially after menopause.
Do monthly breast self-exams. A sizable fraction of breast cancers have been found by women during self-exam.
Get? regular exercise.
Refrain from excessive alcohol consumption. While an occasional alcoholic beverage likely has little impact on breast cancer risk, women who consume 2-3 drinks per week consistently have higher risks for breast cancer.?

CHICAGO (AP) ? There is Davos, TED talks and Renaissance Weekends, all for innovators and world leaders to share creative ideas and make lucrative connections. And now there's a big-shoulders version of the grand-meeting-of-elite-minds concept: Chicago Ideas Week.
The weeklong program of panel discussions, speakers and demonstrations, which opened Monday, was the brainchild of Groupon co-founder Brad Keywell, who regards Chicago Ideas Week as a startup, albeit one that will never be publicly traded on Wall Street.
The Chicago-based entrepreneur was briefly a billionaire after Groupon Inc.'s IPO last year. But with tech stocks falling after Facebook's recent disappointing initial public offering, Keywell is now back to millionaire status, and promoting and savoring a project that won't be judged by the market.
Keywell hatched Chicago Ideas Week as a nonprofit last year with his business partner Eric Lefkofsky as co-founder and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a co-chair. Keywell meant to fill a void in his adopted hometown.
"We're in the heart of the world of startups and innovation, but something has been missing," Keywell told The Associated Press in a phone interview. That something was "a platform for world-class ideas," similar to the annual TED conference in California or the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, but more accessible to the general public. Instead of invitation-only events and tickets costing thousands of dollars, everyone is welcome for a small fee for each event.
It's "Davos for the everyman," as Ideas Week executive director Jessica Malkin has called it.
"We created something in Chicago where you can participate for $15," Keywell said. "It's not exclusive. It's inclusive."
On Tuesday evening, few seats remained empty at Chicago's Oriental Theatre for what was billed as a "megatalk" with AOL co-founder Steve Case and others about "disruptive innovation." They discussed a "sharing economy," immigrant entrepreneurs, Internet security versus convenience and the transformative promise of mobile telephone technology.
"As a nation, I think, we need to make sure we remain in ... an attacker mentality, really challenging the status quo," Case said. "We need to make sure we understand what got us here, which was entrepreneurship, and we (must) double down as a nation to make sure we preserve our lead in what clearly is a much more competitive world."
Other panel topics during the week include design as a competitive advantage, rebooting the brain and change as the constant.
Attendance is up so far in the event's second year, with other big-name speakers including retired Gen. Colin Powell, author Deepak Chopra, journalist Tom Brokaw, designer Diane von Furstenberg, model Elle Macpherson and actor Edward Norton. So far, 19,000 tickets have been sold, with 1,500 to 2,000 tickets selling a day, organizers said Tuesday.
"On Day One, I set it up as a nonprofit. I made a pledge to never make a penny off it," Keywell said. "No one can question the motives. The motives are to have something that provides intellectual stimulation and provocation."
This year, there are 30 talks, 100 "labs" or demonstrations, 235 speakers and the capacity for 28,000 attendees. Receptions after events are meant for people to network with speakers and with one another, Keywell said. The event has branched out into Twitter by asking for suggestions on how Chicago could get illegal guns off the streets. Tweeted answers are collected under the tag (hash) WhatIfChicago.
"The people attracted to Chicago Ideas Week are a wide expanse of ages," Keywell said. "We attract people who are doing or have a strong interest in doing. They're people who want to start something, join something or create something."
Keywell said the project could become like the 92nd Street Y in New York, a nonprofit that hosts cultural events in person and through digital media.
Posing a question on Twitter might indicate a new direction for Chicago Ideas Week. "We are actively in the process of determining what Chicago Ideas 365 looks like." That's what interests Keywell most now, he said: "What's it going to look like in the future?"
How Car Rental Companies Determine What to Charge You
Wondering how car rental companies determine how much you should pay for your rental? Car rental companies follow a formula to determine this. As a customer, it usually is difficult to determine how rental companies come up with their prices but you can always calculate the rates by reading the information below and by applying a bit of mathematics.
You can request the rates for a vehicle you are planning to rent. Usually, car rental places have daily, weekly and monthly rates. The next step is for you to choose the kind of insurance plan for the rental. Most companies provide several types of coverage so you should choose wisely. If your own insurance covers rentals then there is no more need for you to get an insurance plan for your rental.
If you are planning to rent a car for three days, you should get the rates under the daily rate category and multiply that by the number of days - in this case three days. After that, you can add your insurance plan for the rental and multiply that by three as well. When done, add these numbers.
What about tax? This usually depends which state you are in. In California for example, the tax is about 10%. You can now multiply your expected price by 10% or by the sales tax indicated by the state where you are in and then add the result to your expected price. Let's say that your expected price is $50 and the sales tax in the state you are in is 10%, you should multiply the two numbers. ($50 x 0.10 = 5) then add the result to the expected price to get the total price ($50 + 5 = $55).
You should keep in mind that rates can change without you being notified so it is always better to ask your car rental company of choice if their rates have changed. They will gladly tell you about price changes. Doing this will prevent you from getting any surprises.
Car rental companies compute car rental costs basically the same way as the computation notes shown above.
BANGKOK (AP) ? Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell Monday after a closely watched survey showed confidence in the economy weakening.
The Bank of Japan's "tankan" confidence index was minus 3, a worsening from the previous quarter's minus 1.
The index is a percentage of the companies with a positive outlook versus those who see unfavorable conditions ahead, so a minus number means there are more pessimistic companies than optimistic ones.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose marginally to 4,390.20, with solid gains among big banks and resource shares. Still, trading was light due to a public holiday in parts of the country.
Markets in China, Hong Kong and South Korea were closed for public holidays.
Wall Street stocks fell Friday. Investors remain nervous about Spain, even though the results of stress-tests for the country's most troubled banks contained no surprises. A report in the U.S. showing that high gasoline prices were the only reason that consumer spending rose last month also weighed on market sentiment.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.4 percent to 13,437.13. The S&P 500 index fell 0.5 percent to 1,440.67. The Nasdaq composite index fell 0.7 percent to 3,116.23.
Benchmark oil for November delivery was down 68 cents to $91.51 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 34 cents to finish at $92.19 per barrel on the Nymex on Friday.
In currencies, the euro fell to $1.2828 from $1.2855 late Friday in New York. The dollar fell to 77.91 yen from 77.99 yen.
