The Brighton Library is offering an exciting new line-up of programs this January for children, teens, and families. Enjoy crafts, story times, a Preschool Open House, a poetry slam and more. Children?s Programs
LEGO? Open Play, 1/4, 10am-12:30pm - Drop in and create your own unique Lego? design. For children ages 5-7 with a caregiver, and for ages 8-12.
Read With Bella, 1/5 & 1/26, 10:30-11:30am?- Our friendly therapy dog, Bella, would love for you to read her a story! Research has shown that children can improve their reading skills by reading aloud to a non-judgmental listener like Bella. Registration for a 10 minute slot is required call 810-229-6571 ext. 223. Ages 6-12
Pok?mon, 1/7, 6:15-7:30pm -?Enjoy playing Pok?mon while making new friends. Please bring your own cards. Ages 7 and up. Prior experience or completion of online tutorial www.pokemontcg.com/tutorials?required.
Preschool Open House, 1/19, 10-2pm Are you looking for a preschool program for your child? Stop by the Brighton Library and meet with local preschool representatives and learn about Livingston County preschool resources.
Fleece Winter Scarf, 1/30, 6:30-8pm - Create a winter scarf with colorful fleece. Learn how to weave with fleece strips, make pockets, and other fun techniques. No charge for supplies. Ages 7-11. Registration begins Jan 16.
Children?s Story Times
Baby Boogie, 1/7 - 2/11, 10:15-10:45am - Stimulate your toddler with books, music, and movement. Toddlers will enjoy rolling, creeping, stretching, and moving. For children 12-23 months and their caregiver.
Read and Rhyme Together, 1/7 ? 2/11, 10-11am - Toddlers 24-36 months and their caregivers will sing, read, write, talk, and play as they build their pre-reading skills.
Alphabet Soup, 1/8 ? 2/12, 10:15-11am - Your child will explore the alphabet with hands-on fun as we celebrate a different letter each week through stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. For children ages 4-5 and their caregiver.
Read to the Beat, 1/8 ? 2/12, 10:15-10:45am -?Children will?enjoy stories, music, rhymes and fun as they develop their pre-reading skills. Drop-in, limited space. Free ticket available 15 minutes prior to program. All ages.
Storybook Kids, 1/9 ? 2/13, 10-11am - Children and their caregivers will enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and fun hands-on activities designed to develop pre-reading and writing skills. For children 36-48 months.
Bouncing Babies, 1/11 ? 2/15, 1-2pm - Delight and stimulate your baby with songs, rhymes, and play time. Get to know other families and help your baby develop listening and language skills. For babies 4-12 months and their caregivers. Drop-in.
All Join In! 1/11 & 1/25, 10:15-11:30am - Enjoy a great drop-in program for?children all ages and their caregivers. Enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes. Space is limited. Free ticket available 15 minutes prior to program.
Teen Programs
Teen Gaming, 1/4, 2 -4pm - Stop by for the newest games around! Play Guitar Hero, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, or dance on the big screen with the XBOX Kinect. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Drop-in.
Teen Poetry Slam, 1/8, 6-8pm - Poets share your original work and thoughts at our Teen Poetry Slam which will be held at The Peaberry Bean & Beats?in Whitmore Lake. So come out and share your work or cheer on other members of the group! Drop-in.
Beaded Leather Bracelet, 1/15, 6:30-7:30pm - Gear up for Valentine?s Day with this super cute and fun to make bracelet! Make it for a friend, or wear it yourself. Registration begins 1/1
Teen Writers Workshop, 1/8 & 1/22, 6-8pm - Poets, songwriters, storytellers, and dreamers, bring your original work and thoughts about writing. Meet with Mike Ball, award-winning humorist. Drop-in.
