Compuware Executive Chairman Peter Karmanos Jr. and his wife, Danialle, recently donated $1 million to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. The donation will be spent on the establishment of graphic design studios to be hosted at the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education premises of the College.
Karmanos? wife is a member of the school?s board of trustees and the new studios will be named after the couple, the Associated Press reported. Karmanos? founded his company in Detroit in 1973 with two partners, Thomas Thewes?and Allen Cutting.
Compuware?s products are aimed at the?information technology?(?IT?) departments of large businesses. The company?s services also include testing, development, professional services, automation, project and portfolio management,?Cloud computing?based collaboration and performance management software for programs running on?mainframe computer?and distributed?client?server?systems.
Compuware has more than 7,100 customers around the world, including 46 of the top 50?Fortune 500?companies and 12 of the top 20 most visited U.S. websites.
The College for Creative Studies of Detroit is a private institution with more than 1,400 students. The College currently offers?Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in 11 majors: Advertising Design, Entertainment Arts(Character and Experimental?Animation, Video and Live Action, and Game Art),?Art Education,?Crafts,?Fine Arts,?Graphic Design,?Illustration,?Interior Design,?Photography,?Product Design, and?Transportation Design.
The College also offers noncredit courses in the?visual arts?through its Continuing Education programs and opportunities for youth through Community Arts Partnerships.
